This course aims to cover both flower arranging and introductory floristry and is suitable for all - those who are beginners and those who have some experience. We will cover a wide range of topics such as those below as well as any individual aims where possible: How to choose plant material for different designs Contemporary designs in modern containers Arrangements from different countries; Seasonal arrangements How to make quick stunning arrangements to impress friends Traditional English style arrangement What to do with that supermarket bunch of flowers How to make buttonholes and simple corsages/ wrist corsages How to make a simple hand tied bouquet for a bride/bridesmaid. What will I learn? 1. To plan and produce arrangements of varied styles using materials to best advantage, e.g. contemporary, traditional, using historical/cultural influence. 2. Make simple wired designs - buttonholes etc. 3. Identify a range of flowers and foliage 4. How to look after cut plant material to make it last longer 5. To recognise and use a range of tools and equipment 6. Evaluate work using principles and elements of design 7. Understand health and safety requirements when undertaking this activity
