Course Description: Watercolour is a delightful medium and both the beginner and more experienced learner can benefit from this course in a relaxed and friendly environment. There will be demonstrations relating to the various components of landscape, including skies, trees, water and foreground. Assistance will be given in acquiring the techniques demonstrated together with some drawing tuition. If you wish to use this medium in 'still life' work, it can be accommodated with a variety of different 'set ups' available to study. You will be taught how to: Select materials with confidence, identifying different types of paper, paints and brushes Use wet-into-wet techniques Use dry brush work Use lifting out and scratching through techniques Understand and apply the rules of line and colour perspective Produce a variety of landscape scenes Attempt still life work What will I learn? By the end of the course learners should be able to:- 1. Use various techniques and styles of painting 2. Develop confidence and, later, competence to work without tutorial instruction 3. Recognise and evaluate their progress 4. Work safely in an art room environment
