This is a Practical Based Catering qualification. Hull Training has 2 large kitchens as well as keen employers for work experience. You will learn how to work effectively in the kitchen environment and also how to serve customers to high standard. This course is designed to give you, as the learner, a real introduction to catering and the hospitality industry. During the course you are encouraged to take part in work experience which is key to preparing you for an apprenticeship or work which should be the next stage. The key to this program is th time you will spend in the kitchen with your tutor. You will learn a wide range of preparation and cooking methods starting from the basic up to more advanced skills and techniques. All tutors have a wide range of industry experience which will help make this course relevant and challenging. What will you be learning? You will study the following units – Food production & Cooking Food Hygiene -How to store, prepare and cook safely Health & Safety - Keeping yourself safe within the workplace Preparation and cooking of a variety of different food products In addition you will work on your English & Maths and have an opportunity to undertake a sustained period of work experience with a variety of employers and providers across the city. You will also be offered a number of additional courses that aim to support and prepare you for the future and your progress to employment and further learning. Our occupationally experienced tutors will support you through the course and help you develop your skills and experience within the sector. Opportunities to train within our occupational workshops within the Centre.

Name: Hospitality Services (Level 1 NVQ Certificate in Hospitality Services) Qualification title: - Qualification type: NVQ and relevant components Assessment You will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and skills. The evidence is collected through practical activities and assignments. An extended period of work experience will be available throughout the learning to build confidence of working in a real work environment. Learning will take place at the Raywell Street Centre for NVQ’s , maths and English and underpinning knowledge training. Further learning will take place with and employer on work experience.
