The main difference between A Level PE and BTEC Sport is the BTEC is entirely coursework based with some practical assessments or work experience. BTEC Sport is a work related qualification suitable for a wide range of students, built to accommodate the needs of employers and allow progression to university. It provides a more practical, real-world approach to demonstrating their skills, knowledge and learning in Sport alongside a key theoretical background. The course will be split into 6 units. Coursework will vary from unit to unit; units such as Anatomy & Physiology are theoretical and are assessed by written assignments. Students will also study more practical units such as Sports Coaching which are assessed through your ability to plan and lead coaching sessions. Other units of study may include Nutrition for Sport, Fitness Training & Programming and Analysis of Sports Performance. Units will be chosen based on the requirements of those enrolled.
