The Hive media centre is a dedicated digital production suite incorporating multicamera tapleless HD TV studio and radio production facilities. Its excellent facilities including state-of-the-art HDTV multi-camera studio and gallery, editing suites using professional Adobe software, broadcast quality sound studio, extensive media-based computer software and hardware. The emphasis of the course is practical but you will be expected to produce evidence of thorough planning. From the outset you will be receiving media training and be able to practice your new skills.

Much of the work is delivered and assessed through production projects, so a high level of commitment to working on these, over and above the timetabled sessions is essential. Assessment is based on continuous performance, as well as on the quality of the work you produce. You must complete all parts of the course to gain the Diploma, all students will be re-interviewed at the end of the first year for suitability for progression to the second year of the course. Those deemed unsuitable, or who feel their interests lie elsewhere, can still qualify for the 90 credit Diploma, which is the equivalent of 1 A Level and 1 AS Level.
