Cake Decoration - Beginners (NCFE Level 1)

Learn how to make royal icing. Learn different piping consistencies and techniques, such as, runout work and how to make dainty sugared flowers. Learn different cake decorating techniques - embossing, crimping, bas relief and brush embroidery. Make simple moulded roses and modelling. Learn how to cover and decorate a Celebration cake to a professional finish.

Name: Cake Decoration - Beginners (NCFE Level 1) Qualification title: Award in Creative Craft (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment A variety of teaching strategies will be used: Whole class teaching, group work, paired work and one to one. You will receive both verbal and written feedback from your tutor about your progress on course. You will complete a folder of work, which will be continually assessed by your tutor. Entry requirements

The learner is responsible for any material costs if the course is a practical subject, but all tutors keep the costs of materials as low as possible – between £2.00 - £4.00 a session. Tutors can advise you where to buy low cost materials, or some tutors will provide materials to leaners each week for a small charge. Your tutor will speak to you about materials needed at the first session.
