This course is designed to help you to further develop a range of skills and techniques to enable you to: Create stories. Practise your writing skills and have increased confidence in your own writing. Use peer workshops as an effective way of developing your writing skills. Understand the different types of characters in a story and how using personality traits and behaviours can enhance characterisation. Use the concepts of pacing, theme, symbolism and foreshadowing in writing. Explain how to approach and plan writing longer pieces such as a novel. Compare the variety of plot structures that are used in novels and understand how to choose the most appropriate structure. Understand the services and potential offered by the Plymouth and West Devon Records Office. Understand the importance of re-writing to writing, and practise editing work. Refresh knowledge of description, plot creation, structure, show dont tell and point of view. Receive individual feedback on your writing and support to continue to develop as a writer.
