During the course you will study both mandatory and optional units to achieve 18 credits. Mandatory units totalling 10 credits are: ; Maintain a safe, hygienic and secure working environment ; Work effectively as part of a hospitality team ; Maintain food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food. Optional Units totalling 8 credits are chosen from a range of units covering; ; Preparation and cooking of vegetables and pasta ; The preparation of the restaurant for service. You will also work as a team to deliver events and undertake development to prepare you for employment. You will undertake work experience in the College restaurant and kitchens. Alongside your main programme of study you will also study either GCSE or Functional Skills in English and Maths if you have not achieved a GCSE grade A*-C. If you have achieved a grade C or above in English and Maths then you will engage in extending these skills through a project based activity.
