Units you will cover on the programme are: ; Advising & consulting with clients ; Giving a positive impression ; Working in the hairdressing industry ; Shampoo and condition ; Colour hair using basic techniques ; Style and finish hair ; The art of dressing hair ; Cutting hair using basic techniques ; Promotion of services and products ; Health and safety in the salon Your learning will take place on practice blocks and with real clients and you will work within the College hairdressing salon, Pure Salon, to receive your training. Additionally you will work in a real working commercial salon to gain assessments working on clients. You will also undertake work experience out in the industry to prepare you for the working environment. There will also be trips, visits and talks from employers which will help extend your knowledge of the industry. Alongside your main programme of study you will also study GCSE or Functional Skills in English and Maths if you have not achieved a GCSE grade A*-C. If you have achieved a grade C or above in English and Maths then you will engage in extending these skills through a project based activity.
