You will study a total of seventeen units throughout the two academic years for the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma. Four core units will provide a general foundation and thirteen specialist units will introduce you to particular topics in more depth. Core Units: ; Aural perception skills ; Major music project ; Music and society ; The Sound and Music Industry Specialist Units: These may include ; Sound for the moving image ; Music performance techniques ; Music marketing and promotion ; Working and developing as a music ensemble Alongside your main programme of study you will also study either GCSE or Functional Skills in English and Maths if you have not achieved a GCSE grade A*-C. If you have achieved a grade C or above in English and Maths then you will engage in extending these skills through a project based activity.
