Every learner at Central Sussex College who is under 19 will undertake a personal Study Programme designed to develop them academically, practically and personally. Study Programmes contain 3 essential elements: Subject Course Vocational or chosen Academic subjects, usually studied for 12 16 hours a week. English and Maths Every learner will work towards Level 2 English and Maths (C grade equivalent). Learners who have achieved a Grade C will extend their English and Maths. 3E Our own brand of specific entrepreneurship, enterprise and employability training. You will have specific time in your timetable for each of the three elements above and you will be expected to attend all elements throughout the year. Study programmes are designed to help you meet your maximum potential and progress to the next level of study of into work. This course will provide a broad Level 2 foundation for Visual Arts Students, introducing a range of media methods and techniques. The course has two key strands - one exploring a range of 2 dimensional processes (including painting, printmaking, photography and digital techniques) and the second strand looks at more constructed making (including sculpture, textiles and mixed media). Both elements of the course will be underpinned by a strong focus on observational drawing as well as written contextual studies. This course results in 2 GCSE level qualifications. The Fine Art side of the course will focus initially on drawing. All visual artists need to be able to observe the detail in the world around them and they also need to develop skills to record what they have seen. The course will improve and progress students' drawing skills through regular studio practice and introducing them to a wide range of drawing materials.
