Aeronautical Engineering Extended Diploma Programme - Level 3

The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering is a study programme, which consists of both theoretical and practical work. The course allows candidates to learn, develop and practice the knowledge required for employment and/or career progression in the aeronautical engineering sector. Classroom activity is all directly related to the practical aspects of the course and structured to support what is taking place in the practical lessons. Learners on the course will study 18 different units in two years as shown below, plus the opportunity to study A-level Maths as an extra subject, for those learners who are planning to, progress a degree course at university. Year 1 units; Health and Safety Aircraft Maintenance practices Computer Aided Drafting in Engineering Electrical and Electronic principles Electro, Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems Application of Mechanical Systems in Engineering Mathematics for Technicians Mechanical principles and applications Theory of flight Year 2 units; Communications for technicians Engineering project Further mathematics for technicians Principles and applications of aircraft physical science Principles and applications of mechanical science Aircraft Electrical Machines Aircraft Gas turbine engines Aircraft Human Factors Aircraft Instrument and Indicating Systems Every learner at Central Sussex College who is under 19 will undertake a personal Study Programme designed to develop them academically, practically and personally.
