Study programmes are designed to help you meet your maximum potential and progress to the next level of study of into work. Physics is a key science that deals with how things behave and why they behave the way they do. It includes such topics as heat, light, energy, quantum phenomena, waves, oscillations, fields, materials, magnetism, electricity, electronics, radioactivity, sound, mechanics, stars. It is concerned with objects that range in size from fundamental particles to the whole Universe! One noteworthy feature of this specification is that it aims to relate physics to real-life situations such as archaeology, medicine, etc. Physics lessons involve a variety of “activities” experiments, poster-making, internet searches, discussions, presentations, etc designed to lead you to a fuller understanding of the theory. Practice questions are also an important part of the learning process. We visit Thorpe Park in the autumn term and the Science Museum in the spring to experience physics in action. 100% of the A Level grade is assessed by exam. There will be practical assessments.
