This is a Module-based qualification, delivered over two years, part-time. The overall aim of the programme is to develop candidates into more effective practitioners, related to the nature of their role within the education and training sector. It is offered at two levels: the Professional Graduate Certificate for those who hold a first degree or degree equivalent qualification, and the Certificate, for those who do not yet hold a higher level qualification. Year 1: Module 1 An introduction to teaching, learning and assessment in education and training: This module aims to provide an overview of the main issues associated with the learning, teaching and assessing of adults, specifically within post-compulsory education. It aims to provide opportunities for candidates to gain specific experiences in order to develop and demonstrate that they have met the relevant professional standards for teachers including improving own minimum core skills to support student learning. Module 2 Developing teaching, learning and assessment in education and training: This module is designed to establish and develop a core understanding of the key principles of the teaching, learning and assessment of young people and adults. It also aims to establish a professional identity based on critical reflection and inclusive practice. Module 3 Contemporary issues in education and training: This module is designed to establish and develop a wider contextual understanding of some of the contemporary issues that impact on the post-compulsory sector through collaborative investigation and expression.
