The Level 2 BTEC in Creative Digital Media Production is a rigorous specialist vocational programme, with a strong work related emphasis. It offers practical units combined with an extensive range of teaching and learning methods that enhance the learners’ self -confidence. A range of disciplines are taught on the course in order to maximise learners’ skills base and improve employability. This course offers an opportunity to gain some of the necessary skills required to work in the media industry. You will use professional software packages such as Final Cut Pro, Microsoft Office and Photoshop. Learn by doing work based projects where you are required to research, plan and present a ‘live’ project. On the course you will study subjects such as ‘Photography’, ‘Digital Moving Image’ and ‘Animation’ to improve your knowledge and professionalism in various areas of the media. In addition to the main qualification you will also be expected to study GCSEs in Maths and English. You will be expected to spend approximately 15 hours each week studying in College. The course is made up of 9 units. There are external examination units, ‘Sectors and Audiences’ and ‘Industry’ and a further core unit ‘Planning and Pitching’. Other units are chosen from a range to suit the needs of the learners. These might include: Digital Moving Image Photography Animation Video Editing These are assessed via presentations, assignments and time constrained examinations.
