By the end of the course depending on your progress you will learn about: A range of drawing and painting techniques which use a variety of media and ground. Colour mixing and theory. Perspective, proportion, scale and composition. The Formal Elements e.g. content, colour, tone and line, pattern and texture, form and shape, light and space within a wide variety of subjects e.g. still life, portraiture, landscape etc. The work of other artists and specialist art vocabulary. Mounting and display of own work if applicable to projects undertaken. By the end of the course depending on your level of experience you should be able to: Use observational skills to observe, select and modify what to draw and paint, and what to leave out. Work with confidence using a variety of different drawing and painting materials and techniques, demonstrating knowledge of their application and properties. Explore, understand and make effective use of the formal elements of art and design in your work. Produce paintings and drawings which demonstrate the above, attempting a range of subjects such as natural and man made still life, landscape, themes etc. Evaluate the work of other historical and contemporary artists. Work within Health & Safety guidelines.
