By the end of the course depending on your progress you will learn about: Basic drawing and painting techniques in a variety of media and ground. Basic colour mixing and theory. The Formal Elements e.g. content, colour, tone and line, pattern and texture, form and shape, light & space. Perspective and composition. The work of other artists. By the end of the course depending on your level of experience you should be able to: Use visual observation to draw and paint what you see. Demonstrate a working knowledge of different drawing and painting materials and (specialist) papers. Recognise and mix appropriate colours, employing basic colour theory. Describe and use some of the formal elements of art and design in your work. Use different media in a variety of techniques. Understand the rudiments of composition and perspective. Appreciate the work of historical and/or contemporary artists. Identify strengths and weaknesses in own work. Work within Health & Safety guidelines.
