BTEC Travel and Tourism is a qualification that is highly valued by the travel industry because of the knowledge and skills that are gained during the two year course. It tells potential employers that you have well-developed research skills, excellent time management skills, that you are able to work in a team to achieve set goals, meet deadlines and that you have the necessary ‘people’ skills to manage others effectively. You will be encouraged to develop a range of skills that you will require for a managerial career in the future through a range of varied and interesting projects which are tailored to match your interests and ambitions. You will also have the opportunity to complete a relevant work experience placement to help you plan your career path and use your newly acquired skills in an industry setting. We have many links with local employers who value the high calibre of the students we send out to them. This may lead to potential employment in the future. In the first year you will begin by learning about the business of Travel and Tourism and the breadth of opportunity in the industry. You complete a total of 12 units from a diverse range that includes; Customer Service and Selling Skills, Marketing Travel and Tourism and Business Operations, Events, Conferences and Exhibitions, Hospitality and Tour Operations, Investigating the Cruise Industry, Working as a Holiday Representative, European and Long-Haul Travel.
