Have you ever thought about a career within the Art & Design world? Well the BTEC in Art & Design is a starting point towards this. Within the Diploma you will learn how to solve creative problems by exploring and investigating with a wide range of media, techniques and processes. By studying this course at Cardinal Newman, you will have access to up-to-date specialist equipment and facilities within St James’s purpose built Art & Design studios. The Diploma in Art & Design is a vocational courses, which means that all major project briefs will aim to better prepare you for what will happen in a creative work environment. You will study 12 units and everything you make will serve a purpose for a client or customer. You will develop skills in a broad range of disciplines within art, craft and design. Upon completion, this course is the UCAS point equivalent to two A Levels. Throughout BTEC Diploma (12 units) you will study units including, Visual Recording, Materials, Techniques & Processes, Ideas and Concepts and Communication through Art & Design. You will develop a variety of skills, including drawing, painting, printmaking, embroidery, photography and working with 3D materials and Apple Mac software. The final unit of the course is a Final Major Project in which you will work in your specialist discipline.
