This is a one year course. The Level 1 Diploma in Art and Design provides the knowledge, understanding and skills for learners wishing to explore a career in the creative arts or media industries. This course is designed to provide a taste of a wide range of disciplines covering 2D and 3D design, craft skills and working as part of a team. There will also be opportunities to develop English and Maths skills if GCSEs at grade C have not already been achieved. The course is largely practical, although there will be some research and written work required. All of the units are internally set and assessed. Students who complete the course successfully could progress onto a Level 2 course in Art, Design and Media or Performing Arts.
