Sculpture - Summer School

This Sculpture course offers an intensive experience offering a range of sculpture and ceramic techniques including working from a life model. Projects could include working from the figure, working on individual projects and exploring different building techniques depending on the students individual needs and experience. Tuition will be by a range of group and individual methods including demonstration throughout the week. By the end of the course you will be able to: Develop a personal piece of work from personal research and resources, Create a piece of work from direct observation of a life model, Structure a piece of work to be mechanically sound and prepared for firing, Use artists measuring techniques to correct proportion, Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines, Students of all levels are welcome including beginners. It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please ask to speak with a Programme Manger before you enrol.

Entry requirements

Clay and other 3D materials can be bought at the centre for a small cost, clay is sold by weight after firing. Please bring any materials and equipment you have that might be appropriate to the course. You should bring a sketchbook of at least A4 size containing good quality cartridge paper and a pencil to the first day.
