This life drawing course is devoted to portrait and (clothed) figure drawing. Various approaches to portrait drawing will be investigated with the focus on individual, one-to-one, tuition. Learning outcomes will vary according to each student's individual needs but these will include some of the following: Greater confidence in drawing portraits from direct observation, Ability to use a range of drawing strategies to do with looking, such as: tone, construction, horizontals and verticals, extending the line, negative space, proportions, diagonals and so on. Ability to use a range of drawing strategies to do with making the lines and marks, such as: mark-making, pace, gesture, aerial perspective, materials, line, marks, contour and so on. Some consideration of artists? approaches to portrait drawing. Beginners and those with experience will equally benefit from this course. It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity for you to participate fully and get the most out of the course.
