Creative Writing - Introduction to Poetry

This 'Creative Writing - Introduction to Poetry' one day course in Sittingbourne is designed to introduce those new to poetry writing to the processes that can make a'pile of words? into a poem. It is also designed to help more experienced poets identify and explore the narrative techniques and language of poetry in a variety of poetic forms. Students will read, discuss and develop the work of published poets, explore issues of metre and rhythm, and write both individually and collaboratively. By the end of the course students should be able to: Identify and discuss a range of poetic forms and techniques, Express themselves effectively through poetry, Write poetry in a variety of forms, Students should also be able to constructively evaluate their own and others? work. The course involves reading and note taking, and also provides opportunities to write creatively in a range of poetic formats, discuss the writing process, and constructively evaluate their own and others? work. This course is for beginners who would like to develop or improve their poetry writing skills.
