Introduction to China and Chinese Culture

Perhaps you have always been interested in China and want to know about the country's traditions and culture. If so this three week short course in Tonbridge is for you.Spend some time with a native Mandarin speaker learning a little about the social and historical side of China and its customs. The course will cover: Some basic social etiquette (things to do and things not to do in social situations), Where to eat and drink and how to order (or cope in a restaurant), Attractions to visit and things to do, Keeping out of trouble, A little history of the country, How the country is governed. By the end of the course the students would be able to: Show a good grasp of the country description, its history, the language and the people, Make sense of Chinese holiday celebration, tradition,culture and etiquette, Demonstrate some knowledge of Chinese cuisine and the use of chopsticks. Use basic key words and phrases to greet and self-introduce. The course is for anyone with no previous knowledge or those with a little basic knowledge who want to learn some facts about this great old civilization before visiting the country. It will suit those visiting China for business or pleasure or those who are merely curious.
