Are you interested in people and how they behave? On this Psychology in Everyday Life course in Canterbury course we will study a range of approaches based upon what makes us behave in various situations. Some of the approaches we will study include: Biological psychology, cognitive psychology, evolutionary psychology, behavioural psychology and psychodynamic psychology. We will then, use these approaches and apply them to different fields of Psychology such as health, sports, education, as well as areas such as clinical, occupational and developmental psychology. At the end of the course students will: be able to recount several different theoretical approaches to psychology, show an ability to apply those approaches to different aspects of life such as health, sports, education and various others, explain how effective the approaches are in explaining human behaviour, -be able to give examples of psychological factors affect everyday life, The interested lay person. No previous knowledge or qualification is required. Students must be prepared to participate in discussion and exercises and should be aware that some writing and data analysis will be involved.
