This course involves practising seated exercise routines which mobilise joints, strengthen and lengthen muscles and stimulate the health of body and mind. You will need to be able to follow verbal instructions, observe and copy physical movements and use spatial awareness within a group. Although there is no specific work set outside of the class, students will gain most benefit if the excercises are performed regularly and practised between classes. This course should help you to maintain or improve: your strength, flexibility, endurance and balance. By the end of this course you should be able to: Identify your own level of ability and to work safely, Stretch appropriately, identifying associated muscles, Use Thera-bands, adopting the correct techniques, Participate in group discussions, sharing experience and opinions, Enjoy the experience of exercise, being empathetic with other members of the group as appropriate, analysing and developing personal skills. If you are new to this course, a pre-enrolment interview is required. Please ring the call centre on 0845 606 5606 and ask to speak to the course tutor. The course is suitable for those who would like to maintain their mobility and for those with limited or impaired mobility or those recovering from an illness such as stroke or heart attack. We advise anyone with a pre-existing medical condition to seek advice from their GP before exercising. To assist us in providing a safe and healthy environment for you to exercise you will be asked to complete a Confidential Health Questionnaire. Please take a moment to consider the list below.
