Drawing at Canterbury Cathedral

Learn and develop your drawing skills and sketchbook techniques by drawing in and around Canterbury Cathedral with the expert guidance of our tutor. By the end of this course you should be able to: plan a composition and consider spatial relationships, draw more accurately from observation, draw using tone to establish structure and create solidity of form, draw using line and gesture, start to develop a personal approach to drawing. There is no set 'homework', but you are welcome to practise and do further work at home. There is no qualification for this course. For beginners and those with some experience.

Entry requirements

Please note that you will need to pay an entrance fee to enter the Cathedral Precincts. Local students may already have a Cathedral Precincts Pass (terms and conditions are available on the Cathedral's website) so should be exempt from entrance fees. If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring a sketchbook and a pencil. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
