Art Advanced Skills 1 - The Environment

On this Advanced level Art course you will develop their drawing and painting skills through observation and imagination. Experimenting with a range of approaches, materials and techniques you will produce a final piece of work based on personal development, exploration and vision. A visit to a major exhibition either at a London or South East gallery could be the starting point for this course. You will be encouraged to continue your projects at home whether through research or developing and drawing out their ideas. By the end of the course you wil be able to: Respond to the project provided and to site and gallery visits, Develop skills and ideas that incorporate and extend your personal research, Experiment and explore with techniques and materials that enhance, reflect and support the ideas you are working on, Demonstrate an originality of expression and individual development, Produce a series of experimental works leading to a final piece, Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines These courses are not suitable for those new to art, instead promoting self directed learning at a higher level. It is important to note that Art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another adult please ask to speak to the Programme Manager before you enrol.

You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. All students should bring a sketchbook of at least A4 size, preferably with a hard cover, ring bound and containing good quality cartridge paper and a selection of pencils-B to 4B to the first class.
