Photography GCSE (Art & Design) AQA

UPDATED 20150720 10:24:51

Students on this Photography course will produce personal outcomes in response to their chosen starting points whether based on portraiture, landscape, still-life, reportage, documentary photography, photo-journalism, narrative photography, experimental imagery, photographic installation, or film. This will be in discussion with the tutor at the start of each project. Students will explore relevant images, artefacts and resources relating to a range of art, craft and design, from the past and from recent times, including European and non-European examples which will be integral to the investigating and making process. Responses to these examples must be shown through practical and critical activities which demonstrate an understanding of different styles, genres and traditions. Students will become aware of the four assessment objectives to be evidenced in the context of the content and skills presented in their portfolio and externally set task which are all marked in the centre and externally moderated. The portfolio accounts for 60% of the marks and the externally set task 40%. PLEASE NOTE: Regular attendance, a high level of commitment and approximately 2 hours of home study is a requirement from you, enrolling on this course. Students who are interested in Photography and have some skill with the camera and who would like to explore photography through a more creative Art and Design based course.
