This is a one year intensive course leading to a GCSE Mathematics qualification, with the examining body AQA. The course follows the Linear syllabus, which comprises three broad topics: Number and Algebra that covers working with Numbers and the Number System; Fractions, Decimals and Percentages; Ratio and Proportion; the Language of Algebra; Expressions and Equations; Sequences, Functions and Graphs. Geometry and Measures that covers Properties of Angles and Shapes; Geometrical Reasoning and Calculation; Measures and Construction; Mensuration; Vectors. Statistics and Probability that covers the Handling Data Cycle; Data Collection; Data Presentation and Analysis; Data Interpretation; Probability. The examinations will take place in May/early June 2015 and will comprise 2 written papers. Further information regarding the course specification can be obtained from AQA's website at www.aqa.org.uk. **PLEASE NOTE: this course will require at least 2 hours of home study per week, as set by the tutor.**, This course is suitable if you are seeking employment or career advancement, wishing to help your children with school work or just looking for a new challenge. Please note that you should be able to follow spoken and written instructions, read handouts/exercises and take part in group discussions.
