Floristry - Preparing for Christmas

This is an opportunity to learn 'the know how' to make festive displays for your home. So if you need ideas this will be ideal for you. It is also a suitable continuation from Floristry - Making the Most of Autumn's Bounty. By the end of the course you should be able to:- - create a variety of decorative festive Christmas designs using fresh flowers and, - foliages as well as artificial plant material and festive bling. - develop a knowledge of the mechanics necessary to achieve the floral designs, - understand the care and conditioning needs of the plant material used, - incorporate design elements within the arrangements, Everyone is welcome to join this course. No previous experience or knowledge of floristry or flower arranging is required. However, whilst ideal for beginners it is also suitable for those with some experience wishing to enhance their skills.

Entry requirements

You will need to provide your own plant material i.e. flowers and foliage, containers, mechanics, floral foam and any accessories which may be needed each week. Good pairs of scissors and secateurs, a notebook and pen and table covering are also needed together with a camera or smart phone to record your work each week. For the first lesson please bring a selection of flowers and foliage with the festive season in mind, such as conifer, holly, ivy etc. to produce a design suitable for a low coffee table. Please also bring a candle/s which fits in with your festive colour theme and of an appropriate size, plus any artificial festive decorations you think would be suitable for the design. Container: a low bowl or dish, round or square which can be part of the design or not, your choice. Floral foam and basic mechanics are available to purchase in class.
