Watercolour and Drawing - Improvers

This Art course is designed to improve drawing skills and provides a wide range of approaches to using watercolour and mixed media. The emphasis is on developing an indivdual approach from experience gained on previous courses. Themes will be suggested which will concentrate on studying from observation but some projects will involve working from imagination or developing work in an abstract direction. By the end of the course you should be able to: Demonstrate and inderstand relevant techniques, Demonstrate successful use of relevant tools, equipment and resources, Use appropriate methods to collect ideas, research and experimentation, Successfully review and evaluate your own work, Research and evaluate the work of others to inform your own work and development, There is no set homework, but you are welcome to practise and do further work at home. Students who have completed the Beginners course or have some experience.It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity for you to participate fully and get the most out of the course.

Entry requirements

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils.You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Some of our centres have their own 'shops' where you are able to buy things at competitive prices.If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
