Drawing and Painting

During this course you will explore a range of drawing and painting media and techniques. Sessions will be initially tutor led with demonstrations and discussion, building upon learning in a clear and structured fashion. Emphasis will be placed upon developing your own independence as an artist culminating in a self-initiated project towards the end. Upon the course you can expect to work in a variety of wet and dry media such as charcoal, ink, mono-printing, oil paint and acrylics amongst others. A variety of styles and approaches will be explored to further help identify your own personal style and direction. Upon this course you can expect to achieve the following: Produce under-drawings with accurate scale and proportion. Describe form through the use of tone in a variety of media. Demonstrate skillful application of compositional rules, Anyone who has completed an art course with KAE or have the equivalent experience. It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please ask to speak with the Programme Manager before you enrol.

Entry requirements

You should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils.You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements.
