Sign Language - Maintaining Level 2

UPDATED 20150720 10:08:23

This Maintaining Level 2 Sign Language course here at Ashford is to refresh and build on many of the subject areas covered in the level 2 course with additional topics. Students must have already passed Level 2 exam or have the same level of experience. The aim of the course is to enable students to develop an ability to communicate with Deaf people using B.S.L in a range of familiar contexts, participating in longer and move open-ended exchanges than level 1. The course will develop functional communication in B.S.L about a range of real life, routine, daily experiences. The students will be able to deal with most routine language tasks and have sufficient grasp of grammar to cope with some non-routine tasks. Students are encouraged to be flexible in the use of regional variations in Sign Language. A further 30 hrs practice, preferably with native B.S.L users, is strongly recommended during the year course. This course is for students who have completed the BSL level 2 Sign language and do not wish to continue with an accredited course or for those students who wish to brush up on their skills before moving on the the Level 3 BSL courses.
