This Pottery course at Tunbridge Wells centre will guide you through the whole process of making objects in clay through demonstrations on hand-building, throwing and glazing tecniques. You will learn slabbing, pinching, coiling and basic throwing skills on the potters' wheel. There will be an opportunity for you to achieve different decorative effects through personalised projects. You will understand how glazes are made and the various effects that can be made using them. You will be expected to do some research towards your projects at home, this could be collecting found images or drawing out your ideas. By the end of the course you will be able to: Design, develop and add a type of embellishment for your pot, Design and use hand building techniques to create slab/coiled/moulded vessels/sculptural pieces, Use hand throwing techniques with different tools to throw larger, wider, thinner, repeat sized bowls/vessels, Experiment with a variety of decorative methods from traditional English and other cultures to create an array of designs to use on the surface of your pots, Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines, All students are welcome on this course from the beginners to those with more experience. It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity.
