On this Soft Furnishing courses you can choose from a selection of curtains, blinds, cushions, loose covers, lampshades and bed and table linen depending on your requirements. By the end of the course you will be confident in making a variety of furnishing items and with relevant demonstrations by the tutor. Homework is not compulsory but in most cases is necessary in order that you use your time in the class to the full. By the end of the course you will be able to: Measure fabric accurately, Cut out accurately, Machine stitch simple seams, Use a variety of hand stitches as appropriate to your project, Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines, All levels of experience are welcome. New students may join at any time. It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another adult please speak to the Programme Manager.

Entry requirements

A basic sewing kit is essential. This should include sharp pins, needles, threads, sharp dressmaking scissors, small sharp embroidery scissors and non-permanent fabric marker. If you have fabric for your intended project, please bring it to your first class. Apart from pens and notebooks do not buy any other books or equipment before the start of your course. Details will be discussed at the first session or if necessary your tutor will send a list a week before the course starts.
