There are also additional sessions on the 4th and 6th July so there would be time to complete a small project. students are welcome to enrol on one course or more depending on their project, On this course at Tonbridge Adult Education you can learn a variety of traditional and modern upholstery techniques, using upholstery tools and materials. Starting with stripping back your chosen piece of furniture, then webbing it, stuffing it and finally giving it lease of new life with a beautiful new top fabric and trim. A practical course for students to develop skills and work on projects of their own choice. Demonstrations and guidance on techniques will be given as needed This course is suitable for beginners and those with some experience. It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please speak to a member of staff.

Students will work side by side on their own personal projects and receive individual tuition at each stage of their project. You will work at your own pace, new students should bring in a small item of furniture such as a drop in seat or pin cushion seat as a first project. Please ask before buying large pieces of furniture as there is limited storage space available in the centre and we cannot accommodate sofas or settees. Please note students can only store 1 small piece of furniture at the centre as space is limited, As well as your chosen piece of furniture, you will need to bring in a small hammer, a pair of pliers, scissors, notebook and camera or camera phone in order to record your work.
