Patchwork and Quilting - Beginners

UPDATED 20150720 09:56:00

This Textile course will introduce students to the pleasures of Patchwork and Quilting. This absorbing hobby enables students with basic sewing skills to make colourful quilts, throws and wallhangings. A basic sewing machine is useful but not essential as both hand sewing and machine sewing will be covered during the course. Students can make a cushion or small bag initially before moving on to more challenging projects. By the end of the course students will be able to: Use a rotary cutter safely and successfully to cut accurate pattern pieces, Make samples of several different styles of patchwork blocks, Use squared and isometric paper to design your own blocks, Understand and demonstrate the construction elements of a quilt, Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines, Suitable for Beginners who would like to learn the basic skills to make a Patchwork Quilt. It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer or another adult with you please contact the Programme Manager.
