Digital Photography - Beyond Auto Settings

UPDATED 20150720 09:51:40

Many of us use a camera quite successfully using the automatic settings but we are always aware that we might be able to take better pictures if we were to utilise all the features of our camera. You may feel the same. This course aims to help you to further build on your basic understanding of using a digital camera and learning the skills of photography. Achieving pleasing images is our goal, so we will further explore techniques and compositions that make a visual impact on the viewer and how you can achieve this with the camera you use. This will involve practicing techniques for different types of photography, i.e. close-up, action, low light, portrait and landscape. You will also learn how to present an image ready for printing or social media. Weather permitting we will use the local area for some practical photography. Basic image adjustment skills are covered on this course. At the end of the course you will be able to: * Select main camera settings for particular photographic situations. * Produce a range of images for specific situations. * Adjust images for various print sizes and also for social networking. * Identify equipment needed to optimise images for different situations. The course is open to digital camera users who have a basic understanding of their camera operation and would like to be able to understand more about taking photographs in particular environments and situations. Previous attendance on 'Photography Using Digital Cameras' would be an advantage.
