What is poetry? Can I write it? This course will involve learning poetic techniques by examining the work of established poets and participating in practical writing exercises. We will look at how to get started with writing poetry, finding ideas, structuring a poem, choosing a title and more. At the end of the course participants will be able to: 1. describe at least three literary techniques used by poets, 2. keep a writer's note book, 3. draft and redraft a poem, 4. share your work with others and both give and recieve supportive comments, 4. choose effective titles for their poems, Anyone who wishes to explore the form of poetry by both studying poetry and writing it.
