Floristry - Flowers to Grow in the Cutting Garden and How to Display Them

UPDATED 20150720 09:51:01

Many people now grow flowers in their garden specifically for use in flower displays. On this course we will do two things. Firstly we will discuss the sorts of things to grow in a garden to ensure material for seasonal displays. Secondly we will create a display from flowers and foliage picked from your own garden. No prior study is set however some research is good for identification. You may wish to consult The Cutting Garden: Growing and Arranging Garden Flowers by Penelope Hobhouse, Sarah Raven and Pia Tryde. Traditional cottage garden flowers for cutting include such things as : sweet peas, lavender, dahlias and sunflowers but you may bring what you wish - the more challenging the better. By the end of the course you should be able to, Condition your plant material unaided, Identify plant material, Arrange flowers in foam to a pleasing design, Evaluate your design and discuss it with others, and no experience of knowledge of the subject is needed.
