This course follows KFA guidelines of movement, exercise and dance-based activities. All fitness components will be covered: Stamina (Cardio Vascular), muscle strength and endurance, motor skills (co-ordination and balance) and flexibility. Discussions on health related issues will be encouraged. Sessions include a warm-up with a low-impact intensity curve, followed by 'whole-body' movement routines plus toning/strengthening with stretch and relaxation on mats to finish. At the end of the course students should be able to:- Work at an increased cardio vascular intensity over a given length of time, monitoring and recording personal improvements in this section - Perform whole-body movement and dance-based 'routines' with minimal tutor input and maximum personal effectiveness - Demonstrate both technically sound and safe exercises suitable for 'home' practice; eg strengthening of bone and muscles in the arms to combat osteoporosis and correct spinal movements to improve posture and balance - Discuss and implement a variety of health related issues such as the need for regular exercise, diet, arthritis, vitamin supplements etc. Women of all ages and abilities.
