Drawing and Painting - Improvers

During this drawing and painting course in Sevenoaks students will be introduced to a range of drawing and painting techniques, aimed at building their knowledge and skills in a progressive, structured fashion. Observational skills will be developed throughout and students will learn fundamental principles of painting and drawing in a range of media including pencil, charcoal, ink, pastel, watercolour and acrylic. Sessions will initially be tutor led, leading to the opportunity for more self directed work as the course progresses. This course will not cover the use of oil paint. By the end of the course you should be able to:- Demonstrate progression in observation and representational drawing skills, Show understanding of importance of relationships between fig/objects/background in Communication of visual info, Use a wide range of tonal values, Display understanding of colour theory and be able to mix a wide range of colour, Plan a compositiion using one or more sources, Students who have completed the Beginners course or have some experience.It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity for you to participate fully and get the most out of the course.

Entry requirements

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils.You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
