Who is the programme for? Students over 16 who want to work towards a career in the nail industry. What is the programme structure? Theory and practical Mandatory Generic Units include:- Unit 201 Working in the beauty related industries Unit 202 Follow health and safety in the salon Unit 203 Client care and communication in beauty related industries additional Unit 205 Promote products and service to clients in a salon Unit 212 Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector Unit 216 Salon reception duties Mandatory Technical Units include:- Unit 207 Provide manicure treatments Unit 208 Provide pedicure treatments Unit 214 Provide and maintain nail enhancement Unit 215 Provide nail art Unit 209 Apply make-up Unit 210 Provide eyelash and brow treatments Unit 223 Apply skin tanning techniques Requirements: - Wear professional dress as recommended by the College including shoes - High standards of personal hygiene - Be able to work effectively with others and be willing to carry out and receive all treatments. You will also be required to treat male clients - Excellent attendance is required (100% expected, minimum 90% acceptable) - Remove all jewellery, including facial piercings (in line with Awarding Body requirements) and have short nails with no nail polish - Hair must be well groomed and tied back if long Are there any special facilities for the programme? The College's nail studio offers a realistic working environment. Visits to nail exhibitions are also organised as part of the course. Students are encouraged to enter their work at competition level.
