Functional Skills are practical skills in maths. This course is for anyone who wants to improve their maths. By gaining a qualification your job prospects may be improved. You will be more able to help your children with their maths homework. You will become more confident in using maths in day-to-day life. The course will help you recognise good value deals when making purchases, check your salary slips, find the percentage increases and decreases of items, plan events and deal confidently with many other everyday situations. Functional Skills teaches you to identify problems and challenges, selecting from the knowledge that you have, or knowing where to get it and applying that knowledge to find effective solutions. This course is 14 weeks long. As this is a short course you will need to attend every session and study at home. Extra help is given for those with additional needs e.g. dyslexia.
