The main purpose of any course in art is to develop a working knowledge of the materials, practices and technologies used. You will develop the skills to interpret and convey your ideas, as well as a specialist vocabulary and an appreciation of the place of art in contemporary society. The acquired skills are determined to some extent by the chosen field of study, but basic common rules apply. Candidates should produce practical and critical/contextual work in one or more areas, for example drawing, painting.
