This course provides students with a good understanding of the various research methods and approaches used in Psychology to explain the human mind and behaviour. The course is designed to develop critical thinking skills and prepare students for higher level study. Students are encouraged to think about and question some of the fundamental issues in Psychology, such as why people are obedient even if they know the outcome will be harmful to others. As part of the course, students will need to enjoy the challenge of learning new ways of thinking about behaviour, and applying this knowledge to key areas in Psychology, including: gender development, memory and anxiety disorders. Throughout this course, a range of methods including group work, independent study and class discussions.
