AS Economics

This course allows students to apply economic theory to support analysis of current economic problems and issues. It explores both the national and international economies and how these affect both businesses and individuals. The two main topic areas are micro and macro-economics. The course helps to develop both analytical and quantitative skills. Case-studies are varied and can be taken from the UK, EU or wider global economy. Throughout the course, a range of learning methods will be used, including: class discussions; group work; and independent research. These methods will be used to explore current issues, such as: recession; economic growth; budget deficits; and competition.
