Apprenticeships are practical hands on programmes designed to provide you with relevant, practical training, which will enable you to progress with your chosen industry. As an apprentice you will be paid a minimum of £2.68 an hour if you are under 19 and over 19 and still in the first year of your apprenticeship programme. You will be employed between 30-40 hours a week. These apprenticeships cover the basics of Beauty therapy. As a Beauty Therapy Apprentice you will work under guidance of a qualified Therapist/Technician; assisting other members of staff while training as a Beauty Therapist. Duties are likely to include booking appointments, manicures, pedicures, facials, waxing and eye treatments. You will study topics such as anatomy and physiology, consultation and client care, promoting products and services, product knowledge and health and safety. On this apprenticeship you are promoting your skills and industry so it is important that you look smart and your appearance reflect the image of the salon. Good communication plays a role too, you'll need to understand exactly what your customer wants to be able to fulfil their needs.
