Floristry – City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate How will this course help me? You will develop the skills and knowledge needed to work in the floristry industry. Who is the course for? If you have trained to Level 1 standard in floristry, have a sound knowledge of the subject and are committed to a year’s study and regular attendance then this course is for you. What can I expect to learn? While earning this qualification, you'll cover a variety of topics including: Flower and Foliage Identification Commercial Floristry Techniques Creating Floral Designs Ordering and Handling Stock Dealing with Customers. Colour and Design/Design Principles and Elements For the Level 2 certificate you'll be assessed with a multiple choice test and practical assessments and written assignments. How will I learn? The course is approximately 2/3 practical and 1/3 theory. You will learn in an environment similar to the work place. You will need to attend regularly and will carry out practical and theoretical assessments. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You will need to complete approx. 2 hours homework each week. The more you practice and prepare for the next session, the more you will get out of it. Your tutor will discuss this with you. What will I need to provide? You will need to provide your own flowers, fauna and supporting resources e.g. baskets, oasis, ribbon etc. each week. The weekly cost could range from 10 – 20 pounds. Flowers and equipment can be re-used if correctly cared for. Also folders, paper and pens to organise course and assessment work. Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.) The tuition fees are covered in the advertised course fee. There is an additional exam fee.
